« More Display Houses News Articles Skills Shortage May Affect Home Constructions 05/28/2010 Home builders are afraid that a shortage of skills may stop an increase in new home constructions.
The new residential houses built in Tasmania rose up by 5 per cent in the March quarter, in which according to Bureau of Statistics is above their expected national average. Furthermore, in the 12 months to March, the figures indicate that more than $2 billion worth of business and residential building work was carried out.
According to the Tasmania’s Housing Industry Association’s Stuart Clues statement stated that the increase of the home building will rely on the skilled workers that they will hire.
”Here locally we’ve been doing a lot of work with our Youth Build program trying to get young people to experience the industry and some of the opportunities that are lying there in, but obviously that’s got a lag time in terms of getting those people ’job ready’,” he said.
In accordance to the news, the Tasmania’s Treasurer said that the home construction confirm that it might be recovered from the earlier economic crisis.
