« More Display Houses News Articles Australia’s Home Construction Business Slowed Down 08/09/2010 Melbourne, AU - Australian home builders have something to think about lately, depicting a negative transition and a slow movement of contracts coming in their way. Australian Group / housing Industry Association Performance of Construction Index has fallen into a whopping 3.1 points to a reading come forth last July with a status of 43.3., tremendously falling from the 50-point mark separating contraction from expansions.
This Australia’s side of business has resulted into a weak record, with builders identifying long lead times between projects and construction, combined with a fluctuating market status, thus resulting to a fast declining of home builder’s projects and work.
AIG director of public policy Peter Burn said that consumer and business caution is detracting from demand across the industry as suggested by declines in activity and new orders. He further reiterated that due to the dampening results of the construction industry, there has been a continued and unwinding of public sector spending and higher interest rates.
There has been a huge negative impact on the Australian domestic economy and an unbelievable figure are coming in the way this September quarter as Housing Industry Association chief economist Harley Dale said.
”Contraction in both the detached and non-detached housing sectors unfortunately adds to the overwhelming evidence that, post a highly stimulatory monetary and fiscal policy environment, new home building activity will run out of puff,” Mr. Dale said.
”This further highlights the need for stable interest rates and the urgent need for further policy reform to reduce the obstacles to boosting Australia’s new housing supply.”
However, there has been no record of decline when it comes to employers hiring some home builders to join their company and thus not really showing much negative effect on some part of the view.
