Tory MP Attacks Council House Plans
09/07/2010

UK’s new Prime Minister David Cameron and his plan on ending council housing “for life” have been roughly escalated by a Tory MP.

In reviewing what the tenant’s needs, for the state-owned accommodation in every five or 10 years would act as a disincentive in getting better payment for work, according to Nadine Dorries. It was stated as well that each of those individual with an improved circumstance should be given the privilege to buy their own properties and taxpayer-backed banks that was asked to find solutions to further give funds for the construction and rebuilt of a social housing, as Nadine Dorries reiterated.

David Cameron believed regular reviews would be able to help those who are in dire need for the council and should give them access to it, but contrary to that, the Liberal Democrats ssaid they had not been informed nor consulted as part of the Coalition.

”I’m delighted that the Prime Minister has opened a serious debate on council housing. It is the first time it’s happened in 13 years,” said Ms Dorries on a BBC Radio 4’s.

However she insisted that there will be no use for the council to people who would like to improve their lot if the coucil house tenant will be reviewed, versus the status of the 1. 8 million people who need council houses instantly, it would be less effective to review them now.
She further said, “If we are going to support families then the bedrock of families is the family home and I do not think that saying to people ’in five years’ time you might lose your home’ is a good way for people to try to improve their lot”.

”Rather than saying to people ’if your lot has improved you will be moved on’ we should be giving the option to buy. That incentivises people to improve their lot.”
